What is it that we are lacking Apple?

So since the last post in May much has happened in the mobile world and also very little in the sense of exciting and new innovative products is concerned. Of course there has been the launch of some new tablets here and there and some that are noteworthy of discussion such as the Asus Nexus 7, but in essence there still is something missing from the airwaves of mobile development. For now we have The Samsung Galaxy S III which is a beast in its own right but not much of an improvement from last years SGSII, I mean better screen and processor but nothing innovative here.. We also have had the release of the One X series from HTC which has some great features, especially in the camera department, but its nothing to brag about. So with HTC, Samsung, LG, and Motorola all coming out with what seems to be an already over-saturated market of Android devices it is hard to set them all apart minus minuscule features here and there. This leads up to what so far is seemingly still in the rumor mill but looking very disappointing release of Apples exclusive baby, the iPhone.. Yes we all know when the supposed unveiling will be and we all know that it is supposedly having a larger screen, specifically 4", but the rumored design is a lackluster and huge disappointment to not just the Apple Techies out there but to the general masses overall. Sure Apple has a great product and amazing OS and pretty good hardware. I would say amazing but its seriously starting to feel very dated. I understand Apple wants to have the look and feel of an exclusive product and by only having one Mobile device release a year has definitely been working in their favor. For example we have the iPhone, 3g, 3gs, 4, 4s see the pattern here.. It's just starting to get old and people like new and fresh and different. Last years release with the 4S was a huge disappointment to the public as well as investors in Apple alike. The internal hardware was good and better than the previous year which is the norm but it wasn't amazing and the design well it was just kind of old. This years supposed design is also just looking like more of the same but bigger. If Apple doesn't see that this is not just about internal hardware but also aesthetics and innovation to make things future proof then they will slowly fade into the dust. Look at Palm for example, they had a roller coaster ride and briefly went to the top with the release of the Pre and Web OS which was a mixture of IOS and Android and flopped withing two years due to lack of innovation and internal hardware as well as I am sure some poor business decisions here and there. Rim also is going in the same direction with its financial struggles and the indefinite hold on bb10 they just didn't get it until it was too late. See when you are on top you are supposed to look not only out towards the horizon but also down at whats below so not to forget where you came from and what your purpose was. So I say to Apple maybe it is time to look down at the consumers and realize that if things don't change soon then its que sera sera, simply put what will be will be and that doesn't look too bright..

Are Mobile Giants Losing Their Edge?

It has been a while since myself or my partner have been blogging about cellular technology and mobile tech of any kind and quite frankly, we apologize.. Tech has been changing so much recently and at such a quick pace that it has been impossible to keep up unless we have someone posting every day all day. So with that said he is my welcome back to the mobile world and first comment for the week. Is mobile technology fading away? Looking back the past few months it seems more and more mobile companies are coming out with so much that the hype has been jaded and somewhat lost. Htc has over 20 phones on the market, along with Samsung and Nokia and even LG. Apple is the only company that has consistently had a one phone a year rule of thumb and it seems to be working for them. I mean seriously, who cares if there are four different version of a certain phone out there, that's great for the consumer who wants choice but what happened to exclusivity for a phone. What happened to having the baddest and nicest most advanced piece of tech on the market that outlast and out shined anything in its path for months to come. Sure carriers and mobile phone companies are reaping in rewards for mass producing four to five versions of the phone but look at their overhead in doing so. Again Apple seems to be doing something right, stocks are sky high, phones and tablets continue to dominate the market, and they seem to have a cult following that sticks with their products religiously. Simply put they know their sh@% and have the right idea. Make a product that works and works well, one that can be ahead of the curve months down the road and still keep its "exclusive" feeling.. I mean why not have a phone that does everything you need and does it well, it doesn't have to have all the widgets and customization if it works great and looks great. Look I love Android and I like Blackberry, and I think Web Os(with the right hardware) was amazing, but Apple is beating everyone to the curb with maybe not so much innovation but with incredible hardware that does its job and does it well. How many people can say out there that there is a phone who has better touch response than Apple's hardware and if you say the Galaxy Nexus think again, sure with third party software its pretty great, but still behind.. Same goes for the camera, even HTC One series phones with the great cameras and shutter speed they have, still doesn't seem as detailed. The Nokia Pureview is amazing but not a smart phone so I can't put that in the same category. The retina display is pretty amazing too, sure its not a super amoled + but honestly its sharp and has a high resolution. I could go on and each phone has it's strengths and weaknesses but I want a phone that works and works well so I dropped the little green guy who I loved for customization and went with something that didn't crash all the time and I didn't have to charge once or twice a day. So tell me viewers. What are you looking for in a phone and what are you looking forward to in the future with phones, customization and cool features or a phone that works and works well?

Web OS No More? Maybe not...

With Hp announcing the discontinuation of development of Web OS devices an opportunity may be in the midst of the dust once everything is settled. The implementation of Web OS with Android or Even IOS would bring about an ultimate feature phone and hard to beat OS. Just think of the openness of Android and the true multitasking of Web OS or the Ease of use of IOS and Web OS's card viewing capabilities and notifications! If there were ever a time for Google or Apple to turn the tides drastically it's now! All I have to say on this for now is good things come to those who wait..

Hp Palm Pre 3, Droid Bionic, Samsung Galxy SII or Something Else?

With the newly announced availability, at least in Europe, Hp Palm Pre 3 and a slew of other powerful phones including the Droid Bionic, Samsung Galaxy SII, and Htc Ruby, and of course the rumored/fabled Iphone 4s, 5, or whatever it's going to be we are all given plenty of choices to pick from. First things first though, with all these phones what is the most important feature to have? It seems that in the past we relied mainly on call quality and the service provider strength but along the wayside people have become less interested in quality and more intrigued by features. So when do we finally get that perfect phone? When will it all start to just blend and every phone released is just like the next one that just came out the week before? Or will someone be innovative enough to finally make that fabled 3d projector phone where you simply lay it flat on the table and make calls and use the screen that's being projected in thin air? Anyway tangents aren't really what I am here for. I want to know what are the masses looking for in a phone. Is it hd displays, better cameras, faster processors, better battery life, or just ease of use and good old fashion functionality that works and works well.
